Configure working hours

This guide explains how to set the project_business_working_hours attribute so your AI Employee accurately communicates business availability and enforces scheduling rules.

What working hours control

The Working Hours attribute (project_business_working_hours) defines when the business is open and closed. It is a free-text field that the system parses automatically to extract:

  • Working days and hours per day

  • Non-working days

  • Schedule exceptions (holidays)

The AI Employee uses working hours to:

  • Tell callers whether the business is currently open or closed.

  • Generate schedule phrases such as "We are currently open and will remain open until 9 PM Pacific Time."

  • Determine which escalation phone number to use for call transfers (working hours vs. non-working hours).

  • Validate appointment and reservation availability.

  • Prevent bookings during closed hours when booking validation is enabled.

Set working hours

  1. Open the Builder.

  2. Navigate to Attributes > Business.

  3. Locate the Working Hours attribute (project_business_working_hours).

  4. Enter the working schedule in plain, natural language. The system accepts free-form text.

  5. Click Save.

Format example

Working days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Working hours:
Monday: 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM
Tuesday: 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM
Wednesday: 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM
Thursday: 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM
Friday: 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM
Saturday: 11:30 AM to 10:00 PM
Sunday: 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM

πŸ—’οΈ NOTE

If the working hours attribute is left empty, the AI Employee cannot determine whether the business is open or closed. This may result in incorrect call routing and inaccurate availability responses.

Adding holidays

You can include holiday closures and modified holiday hours directly in the Working Hours text. For detailed instructions and formatting examples, see Add holidays to Working Hours.
