Change the language of your AI Employee

Updated over 2 months ago

This guide explains how to configure the primary and additional languages for your AI Employee. By setting these language fields, you control which language your agent uses to greet and respond to customers.

Set the primary language

  1. In the Portal, go to Settings > Agent tab.

  2. In the project_business_language_primary attribute, select the main language your customers use to communicate with your business.

  3. Click Save & Publish All Changes.

🗒️ NOTE

If customers communicate in multiple languages when speaking to the AI Employee, specify them in the project_business_language_additional attribute. For example, if the primary language is English, but the business also serves Spanish and French-speaking customers, enter Spanish and French.

Change the language of greeting phrases

  1. In the Portal, go to Settings > Agent tabs.

  2. In the project_representative_agent_voice_greeting_phrase and project_representative_agent_chat_greeting_phrase attributes, change the greeting phrase texts to the primary language you set in project_business_language_primary. For example, if you set the primary language to German, change your greeting phrase text to German.

  3. Click Save & Publish All Changes.

Test the change

Start a test call with the AI Employee and confirm the responses are in your chosen language. Ask “Can you switch to English?” (or another language) to verify the on-request language switch behavior.
