Configure the Telnyx connector

This guide explains how to connect a Telnyx phone number to a Newo AI Employee for voice and SMS. After completing this setup, the agent will receive inbound calls and SMS and can send outbound SMS on the configured number.

You need a Telnyx phone number purchased through the Newo Telnyx account. If you have not purchased one yet, see Purchase a phone number via Telnyx.

Find an available number in Telnyx

  1. Open the Telnyx Portal.

  2. Navigate to Real-Time Communications > Numbers > Manage Numbers.

  3. Filter by the target country.

  4. Check the Connection/Application column for each number:

The number is available and not connected to any agent

The number is already in use by another agent

Configure the voice connector

  1. Open the Builder.

  2. Navigate to Integrations.

  3. Locate newo_voice_connector and click the three-dot menu.

  4. Select Edit Settings.

  5. Configure the following fields:

  1. Click Save. Do not click Publish All yet β€” complete the SMS connector and attribute setup first, then publish once at the end.

πŸ—’οΈ NOTE

No webhook URL needs to be pasted into Telnyx. The connection is established automatically via the Telnyx API when the phone number is entered in the connector.

Configure the SMS connector

  1. In the Builder, navigate to Integrations.

  2. Locate newo_sms_connector and click the three-dot menu.

  3. Select Edit Settings.

  4. Configure the following fields:

  1. Click Save. Do not click Publish All yet.

Set the SMS provider attribute

  1. Navigate to Attributes in the Builder.

  2. Search for sms_provider.

  3. Change the value from twilio_messenger to sms_service.

  4. Click Save.

  5. Click Publish All.

⚠️ CAUTION

sms_service sends via the Telnyx SMS connector. twilio_messenger is the default and sends via Twilio Messenger. sip sends via the Voice SIP integration (falls back to twilio_messenger if SIP is not enabled). Select the correct value for your provider.

Verify the connection in Telnyx

  1. Return to the Telnyx Portal.

  2. Navigate to Real-Time Communications > Numbers > Manage Numbers.

  3. Search for the phone number you configured.

  4. Check the Connection/Application column. It should now display an ID (e.g. a1ce0eae-...), confirming the number is linked to the Newo agent.

πŸ—’οΈ NOTE

Voice and SMS are now fully configured for this number. The agent will receive inbound calls and SMS, and can send outbound SMS using the sms_service provider.
