Set the agent gender preference

Updated over a week ago

The agent gender preference controls how the AI Employee forms first-person statements in languages that inflect for gender β€” such as verb endings and adjectives. This setting affects the AI Employee's self-references only, not how it addresses callers or customers. This guide explains how to configure the grammatical gender the AI Employee uses when referring to itself.

This is configured using the project_representative_agent_gender attribute.

πŸ—’οΈ NOTE

This setting is unrelated to anyone's gender identity. It is a grammatical configuration that ensures the AI Employee's speech is linguistically consistent in gendered languages. When set to auto, the AI Employee uses gender-neutral constructions where the language allows.

Available values

Value

Behavior

auto

Prefers gender-neutral constructions where available. Default behavior if not set.

female

Uses feminine grammatical forms in the AI Employee's self-references.

male

Uses masculine grammatical forms in the AI Employee's self-references.

Configure the gender preference

  1. In the Portal, go to Settings > Agent tab.

  2. Locate the project_representative_agent_gender attribute.

  3. Select one of the following values: auto, female, or male.

  4. Click Save.

πŸ—’οΈ NOTE

For most English-language deployments, this setting has minimal impact. It is most relevant for languages with grammatical gender, such as Spanish, French, Portuguese, or Russian.
