The inbound greeting phrase is the first thing a caller hears when your AI Employee picks up. It sets the tone for the conversation and should clearly identify the AI Employee and invite the caller to state their needs. This guide explains how to set the opening phrase your AI Employee speaks at the start of every inbound call.
This phrase is configured using the project_representative_agent_voice_greeting_phrase attribute.

For returning callers, you can configure separate greeting phrases based on how recently they last called. See Returning caller greetings for details.
Configure the inbound greeting phrase
In the Portal, go to Settings > Agent tab.
Locate the
project_representative_agent_voice_greeting_phraseattribute.Enter the full phrase you want the AI Employee to speak when answering an inbound call.
Click Save.
ποΈ NOTE
If your AI Employee uses the VAPI connector, the greeting phrase in the VAPI connector settings must currently be updated manually. Automatic sync with this attribute is coming soon.
Example phrases
Keep the greeting concise, friendly, and on-brand. The AI Employee will speak this phrase exactly as written.
Standard greeting:
Hi, you've reached Blossom Dental. This is Aria β how can I help you today?
With availability cue:
Thanks for calling Apex HVAC. This is Sam. I can help you schedule a service or answer any questions β what can I do for you?
Minimal greeting:
Hello, this is Maya from Sunrise Cleaning. How can I help?
